Community Service Projects
Community Garden Cleanup at Urban Farming Education
Sunday, October 22
8:30 am – 11:00 am
Attendees will travel to a local school(s) and prepare sprout kits, garden signs, and build planter boxes. Once all materials are ready, the group will then install the garden and prepare the planters with soil and seeds. During this experience the group will also have the opportunity to further learn about sustainability, soil, vermiculture, pollination and agriculture. In Arizona close to 1 million people are struggling with hunger and over one-third are children. The mission of this program is to target schools in low-income areas and create a garden where the students can go to learn, garden, and grow fresh produce for their schools, creating a step forward in the fight to end child hunger.
